10 Unattended Bodies of ‘Proxy Army’ Cremated After Suspected Crossfire on Indo-Myanmar Border

Feb. 7, 2025: At least 10 unattended bodies, identified by Manipur-based militant groups as the ‘Proxy Army,’ appeared on social media platforms, reportedly routed from the Myanmar area. Videos also show the bodies being cremated, following days after a deadly crossfire that was suspected to have erupted on January 27 along the Indo-Myanmar border areas, believed to be inside Myanmar territory.

The violence, which has been ongoing near the Indo-Myanmar border, involved a fierce clash reported in various media and was suspected to be between militant groups from Manipur and an alleged ‘Proxy Army.’

Meanwhile, the conflict continues to escalate, with heavy fighting between rebel forces and Myanmar’s military in the Sagaing region, just a few kilometers from Moreh.

As airstrikes and ground assaults intensify, thousands of villagers have fled to safety, while casualties mount on both sides.

The clashes began when pro-democracy outfits, including the KNA-B and the PDF, engaged in violent confrontations with the Myanmar military and its allies.
