13 Manipur Students Depart for ISRO Visit Under NE-SPARKS Programme

A group of 13 students from Manipur, accompanied by one coordinator, departed this afternoon for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Bengaluru as part of the “North East Student Programme for Awareness, Reach and Knowledge on Space (NE-SPARKS).” The team flew out from Imphal International Airport.

The official flag-off ceremony was conducted by Bisheshwar Khumukcham, Nodal Officer and Additional Director of Education (S/V), in the presence of enthusiastic parents, teachers, media persons, and other departmental officials.

NE-SPARKS is an initiative implemented by the North East Space Applications Centre (NESAC) under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Government of India, in collaboration with the Government of Manipur. The programme aims to ignite scientific curiosity and enhance awareness of space science and technology among youth from the region.

As part of the initiative, 100 talented science students from each of the eight North Eastern states will get the opportunity to visit ISRO in various batches between April and December 2025.

Before the departure, Bisheshwar Khumukcham held a brief one-on-one interaction with the students, encouraging them to learn, explore, and bring back knowledge that can inspire others in the state.
