March 13, 2025: The 14th Journalists’ Sports Meet 2025, organised by the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU), commenced today with a grand inaugural ceremony.
The event, held from March 13 to March 16 at various venues, began with the lighting of the torch, kindled with the sacred fire from Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple.
A torch rally was then carried out with great enthusiasm, making its way to the Manipur Press Club campus, where the inaugural lamp was lit.
AMWJU President Bijoy Kakchingtabam hoisted the union’s flag, marking the official commencement of the sports meet.
The second day of the event, March 14, will see intense competition in athletics at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium, with journalists competing in the 100-meter and 400-meter races, long jump, and shot put.
On March 15, cricket matches are scheduled to take place at THAU, although the venue remains subject to change.
The final day, March 16, will feature football matches at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium, with the venue details awaiting confirmation.
The annual sports meet continues to serve as a platform for journalists to showcase their athleticism and foster camaraderie beyond their professional commitments.
