March 5, 2025: Yesterday, across Bishnupur, Imphal East, and Imphal West Districts, the public voluntarily surrendered a total of 16 different types of weapons, along with various ammunition and miscellaneous items.
The proactive response came amidst an ongoing additional seven-day amnesty period encouraging individuals to surrender illegal arms and weapons.
According to reports, the surrendered items included rifles such as SLR, INSAS, and .303, alongside handguns, grenades, and a range of ammunition types.
The initiative, which witnessed participation from multiple locations, including CDO Units, police stations, and community centers, aimed to enhance public safety and reduce unlawful weapon possession.
