April 28, 2025: In a tragic incident, a 19-year-old woman was found dead in a pond near Kakching Khunou Umathel Awang, under Waikhong Police Station, Kakching district, on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Thingnam Rohini Chanu, daughter of Thingnam Kiran. According to sources, she had left her home around 5:30 pm on Saturday and did not return.
Following her disappearance, family members and local residents launched an extensive search operation. Her body was discovered around 2:30 pm on Sunday in a pond located near Kakching Khunou Primary Health Centre (PHC).
After retrieving her body, her family conducted the last rites. The exact cause of death has not yet been ascertained, and further investigations are underway.
