Imphal, March 9 (Monday): A total of 201 new members joined the National People’s Party (NPP) in Manipur during an induction programme held at Classic Grande on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, NPP National Vice President Irengbam Hemochandra Singh said the growing participation reflects the party’s increasing momentum and expanding support base in the state.
Addressing reporters after the programme, Hemochandra described the induction as an encouraging beginning for the party, noting that the response from the public—particularly the youth—was beyond expectations.
“Today marks a very positive beginning for the party. Although only a limited number could be accommodated due to space constraints, the response has been overwhelming,” he said.
He also expressed satisfaction over the participation of people from both hill and valley districts, stating that such involvement reflects the widening appeal of the NPP across Manipur.
Hemochandra further said the party aims to bring together like-minded individuals committed to the development and future of Manipur and the Northeast region.
Referring to the current situation in the state, he noted that Manipur has faced a prolonged crisis in recent years and emphasized the need for renewed political engagement to restore stability and progress.
On the issue of future elections, he said the party would contest with its own identity and platform, while decisions regarding alliances would depend on the prevailing political circumstances at the appropriate time.
The programme was attended by Manipur State President Dr. Lorho S. Pfoze, Tamenglong MLA Janghemlung Panmei, NPP National General Secretary (Political) Mmhonlumo Kikon and National Secretary Saidul Khand, along with other party office bearers.
