2017 Sajik Tampak Ambush Suspect Held with Huge Cache of Arms Recovered

November 16, 2025: In a breakthrough linked to the 2017 Sajik Tampak ambush on 4 Assam Rifles personnel, a joint team of Manipur Police, CRPF and Assam Rifles today arrested a self-styled Major of the RPF/PLA from a rented house at Sagolband Nepra Menjor Leikai under Imphal Police Station, Imphal West.

The arrested insurgent, identified as Koijam Ibochouba @ Inao @ Sumo @ Somo @ Pansareng (45) of Yairipok Malom Mamang Leikai, currently residing at Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai, is a long-wanted figure in the case.

Following his disclosure, the security forces recovered a massive cache of arms and ammunition buried inside a plastic drum at a farm in Kharungpat, Kakching district.

The items include an M-16 rifle, eight SLRs, a .303 LMG, two .303 rifles, Amogh carbine ammunition, SLR ammunition, detonators, numerous magazines of various weapons, 2″ mortars, two IEDs, a remote device, electric circuits, a spirit drum and a mobile phone with SIM card.
