Feb 24, 2025: A 21-day-long Workshop Cum Production Programme on folk music for children was inaugurated today at Leimarolsingi Seishakhol, Palace Compound, Imphal East. The event is being organized by Leimarolsingi Seishakhol under funding from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The workshop, commencing today, February 24, will continue until March 16.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary of Leimarolsingi Seishakhol, Ningthoujam Premila, highlighted the objective of the workshop, stating that it aims to nurture and preserve the interest of children in folk music. She emphasized that many individuals in Manipur tend to abandon singing after marriage, leading to a decline in vocal art traditions. The workshop intends to revive and sustain the singing culture among children by providing them with proper guidance and encouragement.

The opening ceremony was graced by the President of Leimarolsingi Seishakhol, S. Rina, and Vice President, L. Bidyarani, along with other dignitaries. A total of 20 children have enrolled in the workshop to hone their singing skills and revive traditional folk music.
