Kakching, October 9: The District Administration, Kakching, along with the Kakching Municipal Council and the Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association (KBBWA), has jointly announced that the 2nd Kakching Night Plaza will be held on October 19, coinciding with the festive season of Ningol Chakkouba and Diwali. The announcement was made by KBBWA President Yengkhom Rajendra during a press briefing at the Kakching Municipal Council conference hall.
The meeting was attended by Kakching Municipal Council caretaker Chairperson Naorem Sanjitkumar, Executive Engineer Naorem Ramchandra, Assistant Executive Engineer Salam Jugeshwor, KBBWA Secretary Arunkumar, and other officials.
Rajendra stated that as Ningol Chakkouba and Diwali are two major festivals celebrated by Manipuris, the Kakching Keithel (market) will host a Night Plaza event aimed at providing an enjoyable experience for visitors while supporting local entrepreneurs. The event will also offer a platform for internally displaced persons (IDPs) from across Manipur to sell their handmade or self-produced goods, helping them generate income and stability.
The Kakching Night Plaza will be organized from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., starting from Budhiraj Lambi (Budhiraj Road) up to Kakching Khongnang Mariphangba, covering the main market stretch. Organizers encouraged everyone to visit and enjoy the evening, emphasizing that the Night Plaza will not only brighten the town’s festive mood but also boost local business and community spirit.
Rajendra further explained that those who wish to set up stalls or sell products during the Night Plaza must register with the Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, and other members of the KBBWA at the Kakching Keithel. Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis, and the number of stalls will be limited. He urged interested vendors to register early to avoid disappointment, noting that priority will be given to local participants.
During the event, Kakching Municipal Council caretaker Chairperson Naorem Sanjitkumar remarked that Kakching Market is the main commercial hub not only for the town but also for the twelve surrounding villages. The council, in collaboration with KBBWA, has been working hard to develop and modernize the market. He expressed hope that the upcoming Kakching Night Plaza, organized with the spirit of promoting women vendors and supporting displaced persons, will become a model event in the district.
He also urged the public to participate wholeheartedly and support the initiative, which aims to foster a sense of togetherness, joy, and progress within the community.
