Speaking at the event, Former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi stated that violence cannot solve any issue. “There is no problem in society that cannot be resolved through dialogue. If we approach issues with understanding and unity, we can put an end to all forms of conflict,” he said.
He further said that peace can only prevail when people work together with sincerity. “We must avoid hatred. Conflicts between communities or individuals only harm society,” he added. According to him, mutual respect and brotherhood are essential for building a peaceful Manipur.
Ibobi continued, stating, “If we unite and put in collective effort, Manipur can surely become a peaceful and prosperous state. Today’s event reminds us of the need to work harder together for peace.”
It may be recalled that Moirangthem Ibotombi was shot dead by unidentified assassins on December 7, 1994, at the front of his Heirok residence. Since then, the Trust has been observing this day every year, promoting harmony and striving to build a peaceful Manipur free from violence.
