In a push towards sustaining India’s polio-free status, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman, District Health Society, Shri Dharun Kumar S, today launched the Sub-National Immunization Day (SNID) and Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) campaign at the District Immunization Centre, Churachandpur.

The three-day drive (Oct 12–14) aims to administer Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) drops to around 27,110 children below five years across the district through 326 booths, supported by 1,405 vaccinators and 65 supervisors.

The initiative is organized by the District Health Society in collaboration with the District Family Welfare Office.

Dr. Kh. Sania Monica, District Family Welfare Officer, highlighted that India has remained polio-free since 2011 and called for collective efforts to ensure no child is left behind. She informed that the campaign will begin with booth-based immunization followed by house-to-house visits on October 13 and 14.

Urging parents to participate wholeheartedly, DC Dharun Kumar emphasized the importance of vigilance, particularly in remote areas, to prevent any resurgence of the disease.

The event saw participation from health officials, medical students, Anganwadi workers, and community members.
