Security forces made a major interception on June 13 when they stopped a Maruti Suzuki Fronx travelling from Chelep towards Tengnoupal at the Sita Motor Vehicles Check Post under Tengnoupal Police Station. During a routine check of the vehicle, personnel discovered a black polythene packet hidden in the rear seat, which was found to contain approximately 4.152 kilograms of suspected opium.
Following the discovery, the suspected narcotic substance was immediately seized, and four individuals travelling in the vehicle were taken into custody. The arrested persons have been identified as Md Azad Khan (37) of Lilong Haoreibi, Md Maqsud (44) of Lilong Turel Ahanbi, Alina Bibi (42) of Lilong Haoreibi—all from Thoubal District—and Hatcy Zou (32) of Sajik Tampak Phoikon Village in Chandel District, currently residing at Chelep Village in Tengnoupal.
In addition to the opium, security forces also confiscated six mobile phones and two Aadhaar cards from the suspects.
