June 3, 2026 : A Hearing Awareness and Screening Camp was organised on Tuesday at the SUN Club Community Hall, Mongshangei Boroi Makhong, Imphal West, under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Deafness (NPPCD) of the National Health Mission, Manipur.

The camp was jointly conducted by the District Health Mission Society, Imphal West, SUN Club Mongshangei, Ayushman Arogya Mandir Mongshangei, and Samurou Primary Health Centre (PHC). Around 60 residents from areas under the jurisdiction of SUN Club attended the programme.

During the camp, medical teams screened participants for hearing-related ailments and also provided consultations on various non-communicable diseases. Beneficiaries were offered opportunities to undergo tests and receive medical advice for ear and hearing disorders, along with other health-related concerns. Essential medicines were also distributed free of cost to local residents who attended the camp.

Speaking on the occasion, SUN Club Mongshangei General Secretary Thoudam Rohinikumar stated that the initiative was organised considering the difficulties faced by many elderly residents and others who are unable to regularly access hospital services. He said the camp was aimed at creating awareness about hearing disorders and promoting early detection and treatment of such ailments within the community.

Rohinikumar further informed that the club would continue to undertake various welfare and developmental activities for the benefit and advancement of the locality in the days ahead.
