70% Workforce on Strike: JNIMS Resident Doctors Protest Fee Hike from 1 Lakh to 3 Lakhs

Resident doctors of JNIMS, who claimed to represent 70 percent of the hospital workforce, have gone on strike, bringing elective services to a standstill in protest against a steep fee hike from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakhs for their three-year course.

The resident doctors stated that they have been urging authorities to roll back the hike since February 2025 but received no response.

All non-emergency services have been suspended, while only casualty services continue. Doctors warned that even emergency care may be affected if their demands are ignored for another 48 hours.

During a sit-in near the OPD ward, doctors held placards and raised slogans that read, “Say no to fee hike,” “We want justice,” and “Three lakhs is too much.” They also said, “Raising fees without increasing our stipend is unfair.”
