The 77th Information and Public Relations (IPR) Day 2025 was celebrated today at the Auditorium of the Directorate of IPR, Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal. The event was graced by Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel as Chief Guest, with Secretary (IPR) Hungyo Worshang presiding. Former Commissioner (IPR) M. Joy Singh attended as Guest of Honour.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Secretary underlined the pivotal role of DIPR in strengthening democratic governance through transparent and effective communication. He stressed that DIPR acts as the bridge between the government and citizens, ensuring accurate, timely, and trustworthy information while countering misinformation and confusion.
Highlighting recent initiatives, he noted the launch of the e-Gazette Portal, the National Conference on Coordination with States in Media & Public Communication held in Imphal, and RTI Week 2025 led by the Manipur Information Commission. He emphasised citizen feedback, proactive disclosure, digital-first communication, and responsible use of official social media platforms.
The Chief Secretary also applauded the DIPR Short Film Competition for creatively addressing key social themes and called on officials to uphold professionalism, accuracy, and integrity in public communication.
Former Commissioner M. Joy Singh acknowledged DIPR’s tradition of honouring retired officials, calling it an exemplary practice. Secretary Hungyo Worshang highlighted the need for stronger coordination between DIPR and media organisations to enhance the state’s image.
Director Ngangom Uttam stressed DIPR’s role as a bridge between the government and the public, advocating media literacy campaigns such as “Think Before You Share” to counter misinformation and promote harmony.
The celebration featured the felicitation of retired officials and prize distribution for the short film competition in five categories, followed by the screening of award-winning films and a traditional lunch. Films by Devadarshan Gurumayum, Dinku Thingnam, Bonney Takhelmayum, Sorenzan Vashum, and Kshetrimayum Priyobrata Singh were honoured among 25 winning entries. Senior media professionals also attended, making the event a grand success.
