The 93rd Indian Air Force Day 2025 was celebrated with patriotic fervour at the Khongjom War Memorial Complex in Thoubal district on Wednesday. The event was organized by the 1 Manipur Air Squadron NCC under the NCC Group Headquarters, Imphal.
Heirok MLA and retired IPS officer Dr. Thokchom Radheshyam attended as Chief Guest, along with Brigadier Bikrant Kulkarni, Commanding Officer of NCC Imphal Headquarters, and Squadron Commanding Officer Mutum Sandip Singh.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Radheshyam said, “In life, progress and success come only through facing challenges with courage.” He encouraged NCC cadets and students to work hard, remain disciplined, and choose meaningful paths in life. He also underscored the Indian Air Force’s vital role in defending the nation and extending humanitarian aid, recalling its courageous evacuation of Indian nationals during the Ukraine crisis.
The MLA urged cadets to consider careers in the Air Force, noting that many from Manipur have already brought pride to the state through their service. He praised the NCC’s role in nurturing disciplined, service-oriented youth committed to nation-building.
Brigadier Kulkarni, in his remarks, lauded the Indian Air Force’s outstanding contributions to national security and disaster relief, emphasizing its role in both defence and humanitarian operations.
As part of the programme, Dr. Radheshyam hoisted the IAF flag, followed by a two-minute silence in honour of fallen heroes. A documentary showcasing the journey and achievements of the IAF and the 1 Manipur Air Squadron NCC was screened, along with cultural performances and patriotic songs by cadets.
The Indian Air Force, established on October 8, 1932, continues to symbolize courage, commitment, and excellence under its inspiring motto — “Touch the Sky with Glory.”
