Activist Sapamcha Kangleipal Urges Manipur Governor to Prevent Erosion of Trust if Missing Youth Mukesh Is Not Found

20 March, 2025 : Political activist Sapamcha Kangleipal has issued a stern warning to the Governor of Manipur, stating that the people of the state would lose all trust in the government under President’s Rule and the peace process led by Home Minister Amit Shah if efforts to locate the missing youth, Mukesh, are unsuccessful.

The 20-year-old, originally from Keishampat in Imphal West, went missing on Sunday afternoon, with his last known whereabouts traced to the Kuki-Zo inhabited Jouzangtek area in Churachandpur district.

Kangleipal made the statement during a sit-in protest at the Keishampat Leimajam Leikai Community Hall, demanding the safe return of the missing youth.

A joint search operation, involving Manipur Police, Assam Rifles, and the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), has been launched to locate Mukesh. Security personnel have been conducting extensive operations across several districts, including Imphal West, Imphal East, Churachandpur, Bishnupur, and Kangpokpi, and have been utilizing tracker dogs to aid in their efforts.

Mukesh was reported missing after he drove toward Churachandpur, a Kuki-dominated district, and his family filed a missing person report at the Imphal Police Station on the same day.

Kangleipal, in his protest speech, also expressed that the people from his Lamlai constituency are fully committed to supporting the Joint Action Committee (JAC) in their efforts to locate Mukesh and ensure his safe return.
