Nov 15, 2025 (Imphal): After a hiatus of 2 years, the 15th Manipur Polo International Tournament will be held at the historic Mapal Kangjeibung (or Polo Ground) in Imphal from November 22 to November 29, and the teams from the United States and Colombia have confirmed their participation in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Spain and Italy are also likely to join the tournament organised by the Manipur Horse Riding & Polo Association (MHRPA) if circumstances permit, according to Prof. Ch. Priyoranjan, Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Manipur Polo International Tournament, in a media brief in Imphal. And the India Polo Association (IPA) will also be sending a team (India A), while a team from Chhattisgarh and the Manipur team (India B) will take part in the tournament.
Since 1991, the Manipur Polo International Tournament began its journey, promoting the local players and games in Manipur, the birthplace of modern polo, highlighting the significance of the conservation of Manipur’s unique equine pony. And the tournament provides a valuable platform for local players to showcase their expertise, drawing attention from various places, including abroad.
