After the Road Closure for Repair Work at Kakching, Road Repairing Has Resumed

Kakching, November 11: Following the temporary closure of National Highway 137(A) for repair works, the road section stretching from Kakching’s main junction that was damaged due to continuous rainfall in recent days has now resumed repair work in full swing.

Today, with the improvement in weather conditions, people from Kakching came out to see the progress of the repair. The blocked section of the road had earlier caused major inconvenience to the public — especially for those traveling between Kakching Keithel (market) and Kakching Lamkhai, as well as to students, office-goers, and others. Due to the closure, school van services and public transport were also disrupted, leading to difficulties for the local residents.

Meanwhile, due to persistent rainfall over the past few days, the repair work could not be carried out earlier. However, taking advantage of the improved weather today, the repairing has begun again.

Speaking to the media, Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association (KBBWA) President Yengkhom Rajendra said that, according to reports from local residents, the repair work has resumed today after being delayed by rain. He further clarified that the road closure was not a protest or strike, but only for repair purposes. The quality, quantity, and speed of the repair work will be closely monitored in the coming days, he added.

He also mentioned that once the inspection is completed, the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) of Kakching will jointly review the progress and, if any issues are found, they will raise them publicly through the press and media.

He expressed that with the road repairs now underway, schools and colleges are expected to function normally from tomorrow, and the inconvenience faced by the public will soon ease. The CSOs, business owners, and members of KBBWA, who had supported the temporary closure for the public’s benefit, have also appealed to everyone to remain patient as the repairs continue.

He concluded by saying, “We all support the repair work for the welfare of the people. Let us all cooperate until the work is completed. The people of Kakching also share this same appeal — that the repair work continues smoothly for everyone’s benefit.”
