The District Magistrate of Churachandpur has imposed a ban on the carrying, use, and display of air guns across the district in view of the upcoming visit of a VVIP (PM Modi).
In an order issued on Tuesday, District Magistrate Dharun Kumar S. invoked Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, noting that brandishing or using air guns during such high-profile movements could trigger panic, confusion, or even pose a security threat.
The order, which takes effect immediately, will remain in force until further notice. The Superintendent of Police has been tasked with ensuring strict enforcement, and violators have been warned of legal action under relevant laws.
The order stated that the step was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety and the smooth conduct of the programme during the VVIP’s visit.
