Ajay Kumar Bhalla Reviews Border-Fencing Project; BRO Flags Operational Challenges

Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla conducted a detailed review of the Indo-Myanmar border-fencing project at Raj Bhavan in Imphal, where he assessed the current pace of construction and the operational issues slowing its progress. The meeting, held Tuesday evening, brought together senior officials from the State Government, the Border Roads Organisation and security agencies.

Officers from the BRO, including the Additional DG Border Roads (East) and the Commanding Officer of the 25 BRTF, briefed the Governor on the status of the fencing work. They outlined key challenges involving security constraints, communication gaps and other field-level bottlenecks, while recommending measures that could help accelerate the remaining phases of the project.

Bhalla expressed appreciation for the progress achieved and assured that the Government would extend full support to address the concerns highlighted by the BRO. The review meeting also saw the participation of the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police, the Additional Chief Secretary, Commissioners, senior officials from the BRO and Assam Rifles, and the Deputy Commissioners of the border districts.
