Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla emphasised the importance of ethical and responsible journalism, stating that the media must work to inform, unite, and build trust in society, as Akashvani Imphal celebrated its 60th anniversary.
During the Akashvani@60 celebrations at the City Convention Centre, the Governor released a commemorative souvenir and honoured officers and contributors of Akashvani Imphal. His presence highlighted the significance of public broadcasting in strengthening democratic dialogue and public trust.
Bhalla congratulated Akashvani Imphal for six decades of dedicated service since its inception on August 15, 1963, crediting it for preserving Manipur’s cultural identity, promoting national integration, and giving voice to diverse communities through multilingual programming. He also appreciated its digital advancements, including 24/7 live streaming, and acknowledged its achievement of over 22 national awards.
The event featured cultural performances by Padma Shri Guru Rewben Mashangva and folk artiste Mangka Mayanglambam. Akashvani Director General Rajiv Kumar Jain, senior officials, and other dignitaries also attended the celebration.
