Kakching, November 10: The All Kakching Clubs Coordinating Committee has announced an indefinite bandh in Kakching, effective from tonight, in protest against the government’s inaction over the deteriorating condition of National Highway 137(A). The bandh will affect all offices, educational institutions, and markets in the area.
Briefing the media on Monday, Committee Secretary Mayanglambam Maniyaima urged the public to extend full support to the strike, which he said is aimed at drawing attention to the urgent need for road repairs. “The bandh will cover all sectors, including offices, schools, colleges, and markets,” he said, stressing that the poor condition of NH-137(A) has become a major concern for residents.
The committee’s key demands include:
- Immediate repair and maintenance of National Highway 137(A).
- Improvement of road conditions to ensure safe travel.
- Government accountability for prolonged neglect of vital infrastructure.
Secretary Maniyaima clarified that essential services, including medical facilities, pharmacies, and media operations, will remain functional during the bandh.
Appealing for public cooperation, the committee urged residents to participate peacefully in the protest to press for their demands and to maintain harmony throughout the agitation.
