Altogether 7 active members of KCP (PWG), including one woman, were arrested in two separate operations carried out at two different locations in the valley areas of Manipur on Monday, and at least 7 weapons were recovered in total, along with monetary demand letters, live ammunition, etc.
At first, during a search and cordon exercise in Keirao Wangkhem and the adjoining area under Irilbung Police Station, Imphal East District, 3 members of KCP (PWG) were arrested with 5 automatic rifles loaded with ammunition along with 1 wireless set. The arrested persons have been identified as Naorem Rabichandra Singh alias Power Mangangcha (30), of Tentha Khunjao Makha Leikai, Thoubal District; Yengkokpam Premchand Singh alias Chingsangngakpa (22), of Thoubal Athokpam Sangdabung, Thoubal District; and Ningthoukhongjam Bikash Singh of Moirang Khunou Mamang Sabal, Bishnupur District.
Following their arrest, police also seized 6 semi-automatic rifles with ammunition, including 1 AK rifle loaded with 4 live rounds in the magazine, 1 A1 rifle loaded with 5 live rounds in the magazine, 1 M4 rifle with a magazine, 1 SLR rifle loaded with 5 live rounds in the magazine, 1 .303 rifle loaded with 5 live rounds in the magazine, 25 rounds of .303 rifle ammunition, and 1 wireless set.
Meanwhile, in another incident, 4 active cadres of KCP (PWG), including a woman, were arrested from Mantripukhri French Colony/Friends Colony under Heingang Police Station, Imphal East District. Security forces also seized two pistols along with magazines, five demand letters of KCP (PWG), five mobile handsets, three hand grenades, an Aadhaar card, a camouflage cap, one wallet, and one two-wheeler.
The arrested have been identified as Wahengbam Bimal Meitei alias Luwang (25), of Thangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai, Imphal West District; Sorenshangbam Sanjana Devi alias Sileima (25), of Mongsangei Mayai Leikai, Imphal West District; Senjam James Singh (30), of Icham Khunou, Thoubal District, presently residing at Elangbam Leikai Leirak Lane No. 8, Imphal West District; and Wangkheimayum Tarun Singh (24), of Sagolband Tera Loukham Leirak, Imphal West District.
According to police, the group was involved in threatening the general public by placing hand grenades and ammunition at different locations in the valley area.
