March 15, 2025 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah attended a ceremony in Aizawl, Mizoram today, signaling the official relocation of Assam Rifles establishments from the city to Zokhawsang, located 15 km away.
The event, held at the Assam Rifles’ 23 Sector Headquarters in Khatla, saw a ceremonial exchange of maps, marking the formal handover of key facilities to the Mizoram government.
During his address, Amit Shah highlighted the importance of the move, describing it as a milestone that would drive urban development and foster greater coordination between the central and state governments.
The vacated lands, including the AR Ground (Lammual), the unit hospital, and residential areas, will now be reserved for public use in accordance with the Restriction of Use of Transferred Land Act.
This strategic relocation is expected to benefit both the local community and the broader developmental goals of the region.
