AMMSO Appeals for Peace and Dialogue After Violence in Litan

The All Manipur Muslim Students’ Organization (AMMSO-HQ) has expressed deep concern over recent incidents of violence and destruction reported from Litan in Ukhrul district, warning that such developments pose a serious threat to lives, property, and the long-standing spirit of coexistence among communities in Manipur.

In a statement issued today, AMMSO-HQ appealed to all sections of society to exercise maximum restraint, avoid provocation, and work collectively to prevent any further escalation of tension in the area.

The organisation emphasized that continued unrest would only deepen divisions and disrupt communal harmony.

AMMSO-HQ also urged the authorities to take swift and impartial action against those responsible for the violence while ensuring the safety and security of all residents, irrespective of community or background.

Highlighting the need for dialogue, the organization stressed the importance of community-level engagement involving religious leaders, village elders, and civil society organizations to defuse tensions and rebuild trust. It further called upon security forces to act impartially and responsibly in maintaining law and order.

“Only through collective responsibility, restraint, and mutual understanding can lasting peace and normalcy be restored in Litan and the wider Ukhrul district,” the statement said.
