The All Manipur Muslim Students’ Organisation (AMMSO) has submitted a complaint to the Superintendent of Police, Imphal East District, seeking registration of an FIR against an individual accused of spreading communal hatred and misinformation through social media.
AMMSO alleged that a person identified as Mangal of Nongpok Heirok operated a Facebook account under the assumed name “Lawang Punshi” and circulated a video containing false and inflammatory content targeting the Manipuri Muslim community.
The organisation claimed the video was intended to provoke communal tension at a time when the situation in Manipur remains sensitive.
Meanwhile, an apology video, purportedly issued by the same user, has been circulated on social media following public criticism.
The organisation urged police to register an FIR, conduct a thorough investigation, and take legal action to safeguard communal harmony.
