AMWJU, EGM Mourn the Passing of Veteran Journalist Maibam Ibochouba

The All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) and Editors’ Guild Manipur (EGM) have expressed profound grief over the demise of senior journalist Maibam Ibochouba, who passed away on Monday after a prolonged illness.

According to AMWJU, the veteran journalist had been battling multiple health complications, including severe eye-related ailments and high blood pressure, which later led to a stroke.

Following a fall from a building, he underwent major surgery at Raj Medicity. Despite continuous treatment and care, his condition worsened over the months, leaving him bedridden until his passing.

Maibam Ibochouba was widely respected for his sincerity, dedication, and commitment to ethical journalism. His contributions to Manipur’s media landscape, marked by honesty and public service, were remembered with deep admiration.

A condolence meeting was held at the Manipur Press Club, where members of AMWJU and EGM observed a two-minute silence in honour of the departed journalist. The organisations extended their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family, praying for his soul to rest in eternal peace.
