Imphal, March 2: The All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) today inaugurated the 15th Journalists’ Sports Meet with a traditional torch rally, marking the formal commencement of the much-anticipated annual event.
The torch rally began from Kangla Fort and proceeded towards the Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul. The rally was led by Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), adding significance to the ceremonial procession.
Upon arrival at the Press Club premises, the AMWJU President along with the EGM President received the sacred torch, symbolically carrying the revered temple’s fire, and lit the ceremonial lamp to officially declare the opening of the sports meet.
The programme also witnessed the hoisting of the AMWJU flag at the Manipur Press Club complex, signifying the formal launch of the 15th edition of the Journalists’ Sports Meet. Members of the media fraternity and invited guests attended the inaugural ceremony, reflecting unity and camaraderie among journalists in the State.
The sports meet is expected to feature various competitive events aimed at promoting physical fitness, fellowship, and solidarity among media professionals.
