The anti-narcotics drive in the region has been gaining pace; during the last 72 hours, five individuals have been arrested with contraband drugs — two Manipur residents from Maligaon in Assam with 148 grams of heroin, and three individuals from Alex Farm in Kangpokpi district of Manipur with 9.8 kg of brown sugar.
The three arrested with 9.8 kg of brown sugar from Alex Farm in Kangpokpi district late Tuesday have been identified as Veineichong Lhungdim and Thongkhopao Lhungdim of C. Munnom Village in Saitu Gamphajol, and Thangminlun Haokip of T. Thangkan Village in Saikul, Kangpokpi district of Manipur, according to police.
Meanwhile, the two residents of Manipur arrested by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) and the Jalukbari Police Station have been identified as Wangjam Mukesh (44) and Premlata Devi (40) of Bishnupur district. The duo was arrested from a rented house in Maligaon, Guwahati, Assam, with 148 grams of heroin concealed in 12 soap cases late Wednesday, according to Assam Police.
