17 Jan 2025: In a significant blow to the illicit drug trade routed from Myanmar, a column of AR deployed at Headquarters Veng, Churachandpur District intercepted Rs 62 crores worth Yaba tablets along with Brown Sugar and apprehended two individuals on Thursday.
The person apprehended has been identified as 36-years-old Chingsen, son of Thongkhatkham Mata Village, Churachandpur District and 38-years-old L Pausuanlal Simte, L Zamkhandou Simte, resident of Bible Hill Renkai, Churachandpur District.
The contravene drugs were intercepted while conducting check on mobile vehicle at Mata Village where the nabbed duo concealed the item in a Car (Fortuner) bearing registration number UP 16 DQ5045.
The recovered items from the individuals includes Two hundred eight (208) soap cases of Brown Sugar worth approximately Rs 12 crores, approximately 2 lakhs tablets of WY/Yaba Tablets worth approximately Rs 50 crores, Cash Rs 3,37,500, Four smartphones with six Indian SIM cards, one Burmese SIM card (MPT) and One Fortuner car bearing registration number UP 16 DQ 5045. The seized items and apprehended individuals have been handed over to Churachandpur Police Station for further investigation.
