Jan 27, 2025 : Assam Rifles, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, organised an Exhibition-cum-Millets Mela at Laitkor on Monday to raise awareness about the benefits of millets as a sustainable and nutritious food source.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from Assam Rifles personnel and their families.
Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, Director General Assam Rifles, inaugurated the Millets Mela, which featured Padma Shri Khadar Valli, renowned as the “Millets Man of India,” who shared his expertise on the health benefits and diverse uses of millets.
The exhibition showcased a wide array of millet-based products from government and private organisations, alongside innovative startups like HQ Inspired and APRINS.
From traditional dishes to contemporary recipes, the event highlighted millets’ culinary versatility, blending health and taste seamlessly.
Nutrition and agriculture experts discussed millets’ environmental and health advantages, emphasising their role in enhancing food security and sustainable agriculture.
