9 March 2025: Assam Rifles personnel conducted a swift and efficient rescue operation yesterday after a truck lost control and plunged nearly 80 meters into the River Tuiyang, near Kuljang village in Khengjoi Sub-Division, Chandel district, Manipur.
The accident occurred at around 9:30 AM when the truck, while reversing, skidded into a deep gorge and crashed into the river. The vehicle’s cabin was severely damaged, leaving the driver critically injured and the co-driver, a woman, with minor injuries.
Acting quickly, Assam Rifles personnel, with the help of local villagers, navigated the steep and treacherous terrain to reach the crash site.
The injured were provided with immediate first aid and promptly evacuated to the Chakpikarong Public Health Centre for further medical treatment. The timely and coordinated response ensured the victims received essential care without delay.
