Feb. 18, 2025 : In a remarkable effort to preserve and showcase the rich cultural heritage of Manipur, the Assam Rifles has inaugurated the extension of the International Three Mother’s Art Gallery at Thangapat Mapal, Palace Compound, Imphal East district.
This move is part of the ongoing Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme. The inauguration ceremony was attended by W Boy, Councillor of Ward No. 19 of the Imphal Municipal Council, along with various dignitaries and community members, bringing together around 50 individuals to celebrate the occasion.
The new extension features an additional museum shed designed to accommodate increasing visitor interest, while further promoting the region’s unique artistic heritage. This extension aims to serve the growing aspirations of the local community, while staying true to the values upheld by the Assam Rifles.
The Three Mother’s Art Gallery, renowned for its exquisite wood carvings, offers a profound insight into the traditional arts of the region. The gallery has gained significant acclaim, with its collection showcased at prestigious platforms such as the India International Trade Fair in New Delhi.
Many of the art pieces have even found buyers both nationally and internationally, highlighting the appeal and exceptional quality of the work. With the newly constructed extension, which includes a dedicated visitors’ room, the gallery is set to further solidify its reputation as a must-visit cultural attraction, drawing both local visitors and international tourists keen on exploring the artistic legacy of Manipur.
