In an initiative to foster resilience and awareness among recovering individuals, a team from the Assam Rifles visited the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts at Pallel, Kakching District, on October 4, 2025. The engagement reaffirmed the Force’s enduring commitment to steering youth and communities away from the perils of substance abuse through informed dialogue and compassionate outreach.
The session was led by the Commandant and Chief Medical Officer, who shared insightful perspectives on the physical, psychological, and social consequences of addiction. Drawing from medical expertise and field experience, he outlined practical strategies for de-addiction, emphasizing the importance of healthy routines, mental fortitude, and community support in the journey towards recovery. His interaction resonated deeply with the audience, offering both encouragement and clarity to those undergoing treatment.
A total of 15 Assam Rifles personnel, along with a civilian doctor and Rehab Centre staff, joined the programme, which saw the participation of 22 patients currently enrolled at the facility. The atmosphere was one of empathy and openness, as the session encouraged candid conversations around addiction, rehabilitation, and the role of society in nurturing second chances.
The initiative not only served as a platform for knowledge-sharing but also strengthened the bond between the Assam Rifles and the local community. By engaging directly with individuals in recovery, the Force continues to uphold its ethos of service beyond duty—supporting vulnerable populations and promoting holistic well-being across the region.
Such outreach efforts reflect the Assam Rifles’ proactive stance in addressing social challenges and fostering a culture of awareness and healing. The event at Pallel stands as a testament to the transformative power of informed engagement and the enduring impact of collective support in the fight against substance abuse.
