Thoubal, Dec 31 : Several arms and ammunition were recovered in a joint search operation conducted at Wabagai Natekhong Turenmei under Hiyanglam Police Station, Kakching district, early Wednesday morning.
According to police sources, the search operation was conducted from 4:30 am till 7:00 am by a combined team of the Commando Unit Kakching under the command of Subedar S. Birla Singh, OC/CDO Unit Kakching, along with a column of 33 AR and a team of Hiyanglam PS.
The operation, as per the source, was conducted under the supervision of Shri Amarjit Singh Lamabam, MPS, Additional SP (Ops), Kakching, and under the overall supervision of Shri Priyadarshini Laishram, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Kakching District.
The source disclosed that while searching the area, the following items suspected to have been concealed by unknown miscreants were found in a secluded area near bushes at Wabagai Natekhong Turenmei. The items were contained in two plastic bags and wrapped with one woodland shawl.
Upon opening the said bags and shawl, the following items were found: 1 (one) M-16 rifle with 2 (two) empty magazines, 1 (one) SLR rifle, 1 (one) single barrel marked as “Bhargav DNX-100”, 1 (one) single barrel bolt action, 1 (one) single barrel bolt action bearing body No. D-1021, 1 (one) 7.65 mm pistol bearing body No. 2070 marked as “made in Rusia”, 4 (four) numbers of .36 hand grenades, 4 (four) numbers of detonators, 2 (two) numbers of arm rings, 1 (one) IED (black in colour) weighing approximately 3 kg with battery and wire length approximately 9 metres, 3 (three) numbers of smoke grenades, 1 (one) smoke grenade (white colour), 1 (one) Lethoda live round, 1 (one) explosive shell marked as “Shaktiman 12 Express”, 1 (one) 51 mm mortar bomb, 6 (six) numbers of tear smoke shells, 1 (one) number of stun shell, 1 (one) Capsi grenade, 1 (one) number of 90 hand grenade, 6 (six) numbers of 9 mm live rounds, 2 (two) numbers of .303 rifle live round ammunition, 20 (twenty) numbers of SLR rifle live round ammunition, 23 (twenty-three) numbers of AK rifle live round ammunition, 17 (seventeen) numbers of M-16 rifle live round ammunition, 3 (three) numbers of .303 rifle blank live round cartridges, 17 (seventeen) numbers of 12 bore live round cartridges, 12 (twelve) numbers of .303 fired cartridges, 24 (twenty-four) numbers of AK rifle fired cartridges, 9 (nine) numbers of SLR rifle fired cartridges, 60 (sixty) numbers of M-16 rifle fired cartridges, 7 (seven) numbers of tube launching 1A, 1 (one) number of INSAS LMG empty magazine, 2 (two) numbers of INSAS rifle empty magazines, 1 (one) Baofeng handset with battery and 2 (two) chargers, 1 (one) I-Com handset with battery, 1 (one) quadcopter drone with battery, 1 (one) drone controller having 3 (three) batteries with cover (black in colour), 4 stand legs and 3 (three) spare side wings, 1 (one) detonator case, 1 (one) BP jacket (black in colour), 1 (one) plastic bag marked as “Dalmia Cement”, 1 (one) plastic bag marked as “Shree Atta”, and 1 (one) woodland shawl.
A case has been taken up at Hiyanglam PS for further investigation, the source said.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, security forces recovered arms and ammunition from the foothill of Yerum Ching area under Nongpok Sekmai PS, Thoubal district.
As per police reports, the recovered items include 03 (three) single bolt action rifles, 05 (five) 9 mm pistols along with one magazine each, 01 (one) .36 HE hand grenade, 03 (three) INSAS magazines, 01 (one) SLR magazine, 40 (forty) ammunition rounds of different calibres, 04 (four) detonators, 02 (two) BP vests, 03 (three) helmets, 01 (one) sling, 02 (two) tear smoke shells, 01 (one) grenade No. 80 MK I, 01 (one) anti-riot rubber bullet, and 01 (one) tear smoke grenade.
A case has also been taken up at Nongpok Sekmai PS for further investigation, police informed.
