8 March 2025 : Based on reliable information from the 33 Assam Rifles, a search operation was conducted on March 7, 2025, at Sekmaijin Hangul under Hiyanglam Police Station from 9:00 PM to 10:15 PM. The operation was carried out by a combined team of the CDO unit, Kakching, under the command of OC/CDO unit, Kakching, one column of the 33 Assam Rifles, and a team from Hiyanglam Police Station under the supervision of Addl. SP (Ops) Kakching, and overall supervision of Smt. Priyadarshini Laishram, MPS, Superintendent of Police, Kakching District.
During the search, security forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition suspected to have been concealed by unknown miscreants. The items were found inside two rice bags hidden in a secluded area near the bushes in Sekmaijin Hangul. The recovered items included one SMG Carbine with an empty magazine bearing Reg. No. 15227618, one Single Bolt Action Rifle, one modified .303 Rifle marked as 1108, one locally made Single Barrel, one .22 Rifle, two revolver cartridge boxes containing 12 live rounds each, five .36 HE grenades (Indian-made), one walkie-talkie wireless set marked as Standard C150, one Chinese grenade, one MK 2 grenade, one tube launcher (IA), 14 tear smoke shells, one 38mm anti-riot cartridge with a rubber bullet, one smoke shell (chili), one stun shell (normal), one bulletproof helmet, two rice bags, one mixed-color cotton cloth (red and white), and four black polythene bags.
A case has been registered at Hiyanglam Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
