Security forces have reportedly recovered a significant cache of arms and war-like stores during a joint operation carried out by the Assam Rifles and Kakching Police Commandos in the New Chayang area near Umathel, Kakching district.
The operation was launched following precise intelligence inputs, according to a release. It stated that the coordinated search led to the recovery of an INSAS Light Machine Gun, a 12-bore rifle, a single-barrel bolt-action rifle, a single-barrel rifle, twenty rounds of 5.56 mm live ammunition, three hand grenades, a ring of 36 grenades, a 51 mm illumination para bomb, thirteen empty cases, and other tactical equipment.
The seized items have been handed over to Waikhong Police Station for further investigation.
