Arms cache unearthed in early morning raid in Kakching District of Manipur

In a breakthrough on Thursday morning, a combined team of 33 Assam Rifles, the CDO unit Kakching, and personnel from Hiyanglam Police Station carried out a search operation at Sekmaijin Hangool Mayai Leikai.


The operation, reportedly conducted from 5:30 AM to 8 AM based on reliable intelligence, led to the recovery of a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and other items concealed in the area.


The items recovered include one 7.62 SLR rifle bearing body number S3368 without a magazine and one SBBL firearm.
They also seized one country-made 9mm pistol marked T1723 with an empty magazine, and one country-made .32 pistol marked “Made in USA 7.85.”


In addition, three .36 hand grenades with two arming rings but without detonators were found, along with one tube launcher, three live 9mm rounds of ammunition, and two 12-bore cartridges.


Ten fired-out empty cases of AK rifle ammunition were also recovered, along with two stun shells, one tear smoke shell, one tear gas grenade, and one stun grenade.


The recovery further included one Kenwood wireless set, one torchlight, two bulletproof vests, two pairs of tactical boots, and one bulletproof helmet.


Additionally, the team seized a plastic bag and a rice bag from the area.


All recovered items have been formally seized and handed over to Hiyanglam Police Station for further investigation and necessary action.
