Army Chief highlight Manipur situation, Surveillances and Area Domination in place to stop spillover

13 Jan, 2025 : The Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi highlighted the Manipur situation and the reconciliation effort being taken during the annual press conference on Monday.


He stated, Overall situation in Northeast is gradually improving, in Manipur synergised effort of security forces and proactive government initiatives have brought the situation under control. However, cyclic incidence of violence continue.


Efforts are still on full swing to bring peace. the Army veteran are also reaching out the community leaders to give affect to a kind of a reconciliation.


And along the Indo-Myanmar Borders, our (the Army) surveillance and domination is in place that is to insulated from spillover of turbulence which is taking over in Myanmar as of now.


Fencing is a significant steps and we are started to commence a new progress towards this ends.


As far as humanitarian assistance and disaster relief is concern, based on the experience gained in 2024, the Army specifically earmarked Rs 17 crore for upgrading of ORTs (Quick Response Teams) and QR Medical Teams.


And the Army also taken a decision to create 17 brigs of HADR (Humanitarian Station and Disaster Relief), to pan India.
