Assam Rifles Airlifts 2-Year-Old Girl from Remote Kamjong Village, Saves Life

In a dramatic and life-saving operation, Assam Rifles successfully airlifted a two-year-old girl, Miss Chuishut, from the remote village of Grihang in Manipur’s Kamjong District after she accidentally fell into a water tank early this morning. The incident occurred around 5:40 AM in one of the most inaccessible regions of the state, where medical aid is nearly impossible to access swiftly due to poor road connectivity and lack of air links.

Upon receiving a distress call, Assam Rifles personnel sprang into action. Troops and medical staff reached the village, administered first aid, and coordinated a military helicopter to evacuate the child to the Assam Rifles Military Hospital in Mantripukhri, Imphal.

Thanks to the rapid response and expert paediatric care at the hospital, the young girl was brought out of critical danger. Doctors confirmed that the timely evacuation was vital and any delay could have proven fatal.

Her parents, tearfully grateful, said, “We thought we were going to lose her. Assam Rifles gave her back to us.”

This heroic act once again highlights Assam Rifles’ unwavering commitment to the people of the North East—not only as defenders of the nation but as lifesaving guardians in times of crisis.
