Feb 19, 2025 : In a major crackdown, the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with Zokhawthar Police, recovered a substantial quantity of narcotics in a joint operation.
Acting on specific intelligence, security forces intercepted a consignment in the general area of Vangkai, Zokhawthar, Champhai district, Mizoram.
The operation led to the seizure of 7.1 kg of methamphetamine tablets and 3.1 kg of crystal methamphetamine, with an estimated market value of Rs. 71.15 crore. One individual, identified as 59-year-old Vanlalruaia from Chhinga Veng, Aizawl, was apprehended in connection with the seizure.
The arrested individual, along with the recovered contraband, was handed over to the Zokhawthar Police for further investigation and legal proceedings. This successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts by security forces to combat the illegal drug trade and ensure the safety of the region.
