In two separate incidents within ten days, Assam Rifles showcased its swift response and commitment to public safety by successfully averting major fire disasters in Chandel District, Manipur.
On April 17, a fire broke out at a shop storing inflammable liquids in Gamphazol Village. Prompt action by nearby Assam Rifles troops, who arrived with firefighting equipment and water carriers, prevented the flames from spreading further. Two civilians sustained minor injuries and were given immediate medical aid by the Assam Rifles medical team.
Earlier, on April 6, a rapidly spreading forest fire near Yangoubung Village threatened residential areas due to strong winds. Responding to villagers’ alerts, Assam Rifles deployed two teams that efficiently contained the fire, preventing significant damage.
