Imphal 13th June : In a major humanitarian outreach initiative, Assam Rifles organised a Mega Medical and Humanitarian Assistance Camp at Lamboi Khongnangkhong Relief Camp on June 13, providing healthcare services and essential support to internally displaced families affected by the ongoing situation in Manipur.
The programme, conducted under the aegis of Headquarters 9 Sector Assam Rifles, benefited 720 people, including men, women and children from the relief camp and surrounding areas. Medical teams from Assam Rifles and the Manipur Health Department jointly carried out examinations, consultations and treatment during the day-long camp.
Specialist services in General Medicine, Gynaecology and Dental Care were offered by a team comprising medical officers, nursing staff, pharmacists and healthcare workers. Beneficiaries received free medicines based on prescriptions, while awareness sessions on hygiene, preventive healthcare and disease prevention were also conducted.
During the visit, Brigadier Prityush Kumar, Commander of Headquarters 9 Sector Assam Rifles, interacted with displaced families to understand their concerns and welfare requirements. Relief materials, including household utensils and tiffin services, were distributed to residents of the Lamboi Khongnangkhong, Sagoltongba and Sownbung relief camps to help ease daily hardships.
As part of the outreach, stationery items were also provided to children and young students whose education has been affected by displacement, with the aim of encouraging continued learning and academic development.
Residents expressed appreciation for the medical assistance and relief support, noting that the initiative addressed urgent needs while boosting confidence among displaced communities. Assam Rifles stated that it remains committed to carrying out people-centric programmes and humanitarian efforts across the North East to support affected populations and strengthen community welfare.
