In a counter-insurgency success, Assam Rifles, with support from the Indian Army and police, thwarted an infiltration bid along the Indo-Myanmar border in Tengnoupal District yesterday.
Acting on precise intelligence, troops launched an ambush near Border Pillar 86, intercepting four individuals attempting to cross into Indian territory.
The detainees were identified as active cadres of the proscribed PLA: Chabungbam Manaocha Meitei, Waikhom Ithoi Meitei, Ningthoujam Rakesh, and Tekecham Nanao Singh.
During questioning, they admitted their links to the insurgent outfit.
The apprehended militants were handed over to Kakching Police for further legal action.
