Assam Rifles commemorated the 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas with a stirring series of events across Manipur, blending heartfelt tributes to war heroes with vibrant youth engagement and community outreach. From Ukhrul to Chandel, Kakching to Kamjong, the celebrations reflected a deep sense of national pride and aimed to inspire future generations towards a life of service and patriotism.
At Somsai, Ukhrul, Assam Rifles held a powerful career awareness session encouraging 22 village youth to explore opportunities in the Armed Forces, highlighting the Agniveer scheme, officer cadre roles, and women’s participation. Motivational talks emphasised discipline, honour, and the adventurous life the military offers.
Simultaneously, in Chandel, over 175 Kargil veterans were honoured during a special Veterans Meet at Modi, where war heroes shared moving experiences. In Moreh and Tengnoupal, school students and NCC cadets joined in drawing contests, film screenings, walkathons, and cleanliness drives, awakening patriotic fervour among over 300 youth.
At Kakching, the atmosphere was electric with tree plantation drives and a spirited cycle rally by Assam Rifles Public School students, each sapling planted in memory of a fallen hero. In Sehlon and Joupi, essay and art competitions brought out local creativity around the themes of bravery and sacrifice.
Cultural events at Kamjong and Ukhrul saw group songs, debates, poems, and a rousing band performance that left students and villagers emotionally charged. Inspirational speeches and prize distributions capped the celebrations with renewed calls to serve the nation.
