Assam Rifles, Manipur Police Destroy Four Acres of Illicit Poppy Cultivation in Churachandpur

Feb. 21, 2025: In a significant step against illegal narcotics cultivation, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Manipur Police, forest department representatives, and Narcotics and Affairs of Borders (NAB) personnel, successfully destroyed approximately four acres of illicit poppy plantations in Maungzang village, Churachandpur district.

The operation was conducted with the active participation of local villagers, who were made aware of the detrimental effects of poppy cultivation on society, the youth, and the environment. Following this awareness initiative, the villagers appreciated the efforts of the civil administration and took an active role in the destruction of the illicit crops. They also pledged to refrain from any further illegal poppy cultivation in their region.
