Assam Rifles Organises Practical Burmese Language Training Visit in Tengnoupal

Tengnoupal, 17 March 2026: A practical training visit was organised for students of the Burmese Language Course to Chongjang and T. Minou by Assam Rifles on 16 March 2026. The initiative brought together 50 participants, including 47 students and supervising staff, in a structured exercise aimed at strengthening language proficiency through direct engagement with Burmese refugees residing in the area.

The training was conducted in a controlled and supervised environment, enabling students to interact one-to-one with native Burmese speakers. This real-time exposure allowed the trainees to apply classroom learning in practical conditions, thereby improving spoken proficiency, listening skills, and confidence. The interaction also provided valuable insights into local dialects, commonly used expressions, and cultural nuances, bridging the gap between theoretical instruction and field application.

The refugees actively participated in the exchange, contributing to a constructive and meaningful dialogue. The students responded positively to the opportunity, demonstrating marked improvement in their ability to comprehend and communicate in Burmese. Instructors observed significant progress in the trainees’ confidence and fluency, underscoring the effectiveness of such field-oriented modules.

The exercise highlighted the importance of language skills in fostering understanding and building bridges in sensitive border regions. By facilitating direct interaction, the training not only enhanced communication ability but also strengthened mutual awareness between the students and the local population.
