The Assam Rifles (South) observed a ceremony at its Battalion Headquarters in Tengnoupal on Monday to honour 47 soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1962 Indo-China War in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh.
Around 161 personnel participated in the event, which included a wreath-laying ceremony and a Guard of Honour to pay tribute to the martyrs.
Officers recalled the courage and camaraderie displayed by the troops who resisted the Chinese advance, describing their sacrifice as an enduring inspiration for generations.
The observance also reaffirmed the force’s commitment to uphold the values of valour, loyalty, and national devotion that form the core of Assam Rifles’ ethos.
