March 3, 2025: Assam Rifles organized a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at Sehlon, Chandel District, in honor of Late Rifleman Ram Bahadur Pun, who made the ultimate sacrifice during a counter-insurgency operation in Aizawl, Mizoram, on March 3, 1966.
On that fateful day, MNF insurgents attacked Aizawl jail to free prisoners and seize control. A team of Assam Rifles was deployed to retake the facility but came under heavy fire. Rifleman Ram Bahadur Pun was injured while administering first aid to wounded soldiers and succumbed to his injuries, demonstrating exceptional bravery and camaraderie.
Senior Assam Rifles officials laid wreaths to honor his sacrifice, joined by 100 personnel who paid their respects in a solemn tribute. The ceremony reaffirmed the unwavering spirit of the force in remembering its heroes.
